“Currency” – something (as coins, treasury notes, and banknotes) that is in circulation as a medium of exchange http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/currency
“Empathy” – being aware of and sharing another person’s feelings, experiences, and emotions http://www.wordcentral.com/cgi-bin/student?book=Student&va=empathy
We count currency. We undervalue empathy. It’s time to connect these ideas for the good of our organizations, our economy, our educational systems, our society, and especially our children. This blog is not just about business, but everywhere human interactions are enhanced by empathy. At the CEO’s for Cities conference in May 2012, I gave a talk which started to make the connection http://www.slideshare.net/leefisher/acho-jackie
Can you see what I mean? If so or if not, I hope you’ll stay with me as I make the case and reveal the power of a “currency of empathy”.
